To Sofie

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket"

I just found out that my beautiful dog of twelve years died two days ago. Here is the story of Sofie.

It was a cold and rainy night. I have been wandering the streets for weeks in search of food. Always at one door or another I find food and water... but never shelter. During the day I scourge trash cans... during the night I curl up near some tree, or park, or soft grass patch. Tonight I was just too hungry to sleep. I found my old neighborhood, the one that I lived in with my first owners before they moved and left me to roam about. It must have been trash night for several houses had full trash cans sitting on the curb waiting for the morning pick-up. I ran over to the other end of the street to one that looked inviting. I jumped up on it and it toppled over. I was so hungry my stomach growled loudly. I did not pay attention as a man stepped out of the house which I was in front of. I heard a click and a loud "bang". I remember pain, I yelped, and then fell to the ground... unconscious. It was several hours before I woke up. When I did I was alone in a cage in a white room with noise all around me, my paw hurt very badly. I later found out that I was shot. Slowly after a few weeks I was mending and I could put almost all of my weight on my wounded paw. I went to this farm and recovered completely there. All sorts of animals were on this farm. Mostly the cats interested me. For some reason all the other dogs avoided these small animals. They were scared of the dogs too. I loved to hang around and play with the cats. They really went that bad. Soon, I had to leave this farm I had learned to call home. I needed to find a home. Maybe somewhere out there a family might want me? For several months I was at a store. People would come in and pet me and I would look at them in the eyes, wag my tail and pant... "What more could a human want?"I thought. But no one came to take me home. Finally a family came in. There were two small children, a boy and a girl. I gave them my best.... I walked up to the little girl (she was younger and slobbered her right in the face. Then I sat down and rubbed my head on her chest as she patted my head. "This was it!" I thought. And it was! A few days later they came back and took me home! At last a family that will care and love me and never leave me to roam about! My first thought when I saw the backyard I was to live in was, " Oh, that wall? Easy to clear!" Yes, I think my new family was quite astounded when they came home to find me sniffing about in the front yard, having no explanation of how I could have gotten out besides jumping over a six foot wall. (I really don't think that it was that hard of a feet.) Two years later we moved to a new backyard. I liked this one because the gate was made of rotting wood. It was very easy to squeeze though. Many times did I sneak out for the day, and roam around the neighborhood until my family found me. It was great fun! I was always very sensitive to loud noises. The scare on my paw reminded me of that. One night in the middle of summer, my family left for hours at a time. There were loud noises and sparks flying into the air. I was terribly frightened! I needed to get out. "The gate!" I thought. I squeezed though and out into the driveway. I was free! Free to run away from those awful noises and sparks. But no! They followed me wherever I went. Finally I went into the orchard near our house. While I was running a tripped and fell into a small ditch. I yelped in pain, but was able to limp away and lie down and fall asleep, exhausted. I woke a few hours later to the sound of coyotes coming near. I ran away quickly and found my way limping home, thirsty and very tired. Never again did I run away. It was way too dangerous. About a year after this incident my family moved. But they left me behind to some of the nicest people I know, Grandma and Grandpa. Occasionally when I lived with my family Grandma and Grandpa would come visit. Grandpa always loved playing with me and, because of my sharp claws, sometimes left with a few scratches I always was sorry to give. I was very sad for a few weeks about my family leaving me and I did not exactly understand. But before they left the little girl (who was not so very little anymore) explained to me why they had to leave me. They were moving away to a place where it got very cold and she told me that I would not like it there very much because I would have to be outside in the cold and snow where my paws would get wet. I agreed silently and a few weeks later they left. I saw them a few times when they came back to visit, but my life with Grandma and Grandpa was very comfortable. Every night Grandma would tuck me into bed with a sheet snuggled close around me. I had bones and food every day. It was so wonderful. So, to this day I will never forget my family and all that they loved and cared for me, but I know that they love me and did the best for me. I was a good dog to them. They were a good family to me.

I love you Sofie.

A few weeks ago, I went to a going away party for one of my friends who just moved. At the party we performed som live entertainment for the guests from the broadway play "Wicked".

Erein and Traci performed the song "Popular"

PICT3306

Glinda (Erin, in the white dress) is showing Elphaba (Traci, in the black) how to become popular.

Next Erin and Traci performed "For Good".

PICT3311

The two witched have become friends and they have to say good bye. It was very sad since we were all saying good bye to Traci.

Next, Erin, Traci, Kelsie and I performed "What is this feeling?" aka "Loathing".

PICT3315

Glinda (now Kelsie in the pink and white) and Elphaba (Erin in the black) have just meet and they both find this strange new emotion in themselves. Loathing, as you can tell from the picture.

The adoring students of Glinda come in.

Summer Activities

Yeesh! 'Bout time I posted. Eh?

My summer has been quite full so far. And it looks to get even more so.

Right now I am taking part in a play for the Trinity Fest. So, that means that all you people that are coming to the Fest will get to see me play the part of Maid One in Mr. J's original play "Excommunicating Spinoza". I have a small role (only in one scene). But this is my first time acting stage, and (I think) a fitting place to start. Although it is one scene it is rather challenging. I have to laugh hysterically, cry, and scream all in five pages. We had our first practice tonight in which we blocked about half the play. It was very fun!

Last week I went to Horse Camp. I have pictures, but I have to upload them first. At camp we rode horses, danced, sang, canoed, swam, and had a blast! There were 31 campers and 17 helpers. The food was amazing, and the fellowshiping was great! We rode horses for about an hour ever day and two hours in the last day. On Tuesday and Wednesday I rode a horse called Twilight. He is part Arabian. He is really sweet, but has a slow and lazy walk. On Thursday and Friday I rode Charlie (Charles, Chuck... those were all his names ;). He is a really big horse. He is part some sort of draft horse. His withers were at my head. His saddle was unbelievably hard. There was absolutely no padding on it. On Saturday I stayed a few hours extra after most of the girls left. I want for a trail ride with a few of the wranglers. I rode Roscoe. He was the horse that I rode last year at camp. A few of us went ahead of the rest and cantered most of the way. It was SO much fun! I was having trouble cantering Chuck. Mostly because he has such a huge barrel and I could not keep my balance. Roscoe was much smaller around the middle and easier to stay on. It made me very happy to know that I could do it. I was getting rather frustrated ion Chuck. It was a great week full of fun memories. My cousin who lives near the place where we had camp came. She is now staying with us for a week and a half!

I am watching Pride&Prejudice (A&E) right now!

Hopefully I will be able to update more often!

   Hi y'all!

This past Saturday I had my end of the year Spring Irish Step Dance recital! It was a very fun, long and tiring day. We had a dress rehearsal from 10 am to 1 pm. It went relatively smooth. What is really fun about the dress rehearsal is that after you finish a dance you can go out and watch the other dances until it is your turn to go back on again. After that a bunch of us headed over to my house to curl our hair and get our stage makeup on. We had two hours in which to do that, eat , make sure that everything was in our bags, and get over to the place where we were performing. Whew! We took some class pictures (which I don't have) and I headed into the dressing rooms to get in my first costume. Four of us (Grace S. Kelsie H. Laura P. and I) were in five dances, so we had multiple costume changes and some of them were really fast. The first dance I had was our "Scottish Highland Fling". Ever heard of the Highland Fling? Well, we did it. It is rather simple. The hardest part is remembering when to have your hands up or down. Here is one when Laura has her hands up at the wrong time, lol! This is the only one I have when we are in a line doing the Fling.

I am on the far right :)

Here is one at the beginning we all started in the middle of the stage and then exploded out from there to the corners.

The next dance that I was in was called "Flamenco Fling". This was my first Hardshoe dance that I have ever performed. This is my first year as a Hardshoe student. This dance was kind of like a character dance. We had some really great music. In this dance one of the dancers (Grace S.) kind of goofs off (starts moving her arms around and becoming a little loose) while the rest of us are being good little dancers and doing our steps fine with good form.

(Sorry, this picture is from the dress rehearsal. In the recital we all had on red shirts)

Then one of the other dancers (Laura P.) starts goofing off with Grace. They have their "Flamenco Solo" While Kelsie and I do a step with tight form and frown over at them. During the "Flamenco Solo" they are just going wild, flailing their arms, hooking arms and going around in a circle.... I am not sure what else they do, lol.

The music had a stopping spot where the drums go "bum...bum... bum bum bum" Kelsie and I stomp out feet at them and point our fingers to where they should be standing. During the third go round they finally persuade Kelsie and I to go wild. So we start exaggerating. Then we do you a train.

My teacher comes out from behind the curtain and points us off stage. We start to go grudgingly kind of dancing slowly off stage. I think I might have stuck my tongue out at her for the affect. (Shocking! I know!) But suddenly we realized that Grace is still in the middle of the stage still dancing away! We run out and pulling and pushing drag her by her arm of stage while she is still dancing away. The audience really like this and they went wild when we came running wildly back on for our bow and threw out roses into the crowd. This was my hardest (but favorite) dance.

The next dance was the first after the intermission, "The Doves Return". This was a soft shoe class that had 12 dancers! This is a pretty big class to choreograph for. This dance was kind of a floaty, airy-fairy dance. Kelsie and I had a duet for the beginning part. Then we went to the corners and brought out our "little doves" (other classmates). Here is a pictures form that dance:

The next dance I was in was called "Saint Patricks Day". This is a traditional set dance for Hardshoe. I don't have any pictures from that :(.

And the last, the grad finale.... was..... a character dance put to

................

the music of....

"Pirates of the Caribbean" theme song

We had two groups. Good Pirates and Bad Pirates. Kelise had a minute solos at the beginning of this and she was the leader of the Good Pirates. I don't have any pictures of us while we were dancing, we had an ending pose where each of the good pirates are killing the bad.

(I am to the left of the girl (Kelsie) carrying the flag)

And here is our big class after the recital.

And with our teacher in the middle. I am right to the left of her.

That is all for now folks!
